Allie and Dave’s Wedding at Orchardleigh House, Somerset.

Beautiful people, beautiful wedding!

Today Allie’s words accompany our favourite images from their day-

“To us the photography was one of the most important aspects of our day. It flew by in a heady blur of excitement and nervous anticipation, and we are so glad that we have the beautiful pictures that Simon and Helen took that we can now treasure forever and all the moments that we might have missed have been captured for us to savour. The thing that really stands out about our images is that there isn’t one where someone isn’t smiling or laughing and that really sums up our day; it was just full to the brim with love and laughter and everyone had a great time! We wish we could do it all again! We can’t thank Simon and Helen enough for the beautiful images that they have produced. Working with them was a breeze and we loved every minute, they are professional, friendly and really put you at ease, they were just as welcome as any of our other guests and fitted in perfectly!”

Allie continues…

“We are Allie and Dave; we met in January 2009 through mutual friends. Even though 10 years previously we had spent four years together at the same university, (during which we spent a year living about 10 doors apart), we didn’t ever meet until this point.

We got engaged in November 2010 when Dave decided, that with my fear of heights, the only decent way to propose was on the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, this way I had nowhere to run!

Shortly after this trip we moved to Switzerland with Dave’s job and had envisaged that we would be back before our wedding in June of 2012. Two years on and we are still here and not planning to leave just yet. This obviously made planning our wedding a little trickier but with the internet and Skype nothing was too much of a problem.

We wanted a simple wedding with minimal fuss and handmade details, where our guests could have fun and not worry about standing on ceremony. We didn’t want to break the bank on one day or on things that wouldn’t last so I made all of the decor, table decorations and all of the stationery. I am a designer by trade and love making things so this was the perfect opportunity for a project!

We chose Orchardleigh House for our reception because we could have exclusive use, it was a bit like having your own country house for the day, we didn’t have to share it with anyone else, all of our guests could stay over in the house and the party finished when the last man keeled over!”
